I was having a similar (splintere...Loved your post. I was having a similar (splintered) discussion on twitter. Conclusions: yes, personality matters a lot. But as we grow older the intensity of friendships seems to diminish. I've made a bunch of new friends just this summer but the whole process is more slotted (as mentioned in the NYT). My biggest learning - doing "nothing" is VERY hard. I, too, end up watching a film or reading, which is so different from switching off and incubating thoughts, inward reflections, or ideas....Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
